WhatsApp Business API pricing in India 2026: Meta rates and the platform fee explained. Guide from WatsBerry.

    Quick answers

What changed in WhatsApp pricing for India on 1 October 2026?
Meta began charging free-form service replies after 1,000 free deliveries per business phone number per month, and charging utility templates inside an open 24-hour window. India’s published INR list rates did not rise. Full hub: /resources/whatsapp-pricing-change-october-2026-india.
What is Meta per-message vs the platform fee?
You pay Meta directly for WhatsApp marketing. Meta invoices conversation and template usage on your Meta payment method by category and recipient country. WatsBerry bills the software plan only and adds 0% markup on marketing messages. WatsBerry does not settle Meta invoices.
Are the rupee examples a quote?
No. 1,000 and 10,000 marketing-template rows are labeled examples using on-site planning bands (about ₹0.75–₹1.00 marketing, mid snapshot ₹0.86, ex-GST). Verify Meta’s live documentation. GST is extra.

    Example volumes, not a quote

Uses the same India planning bands already on this site (marketing about ₹0.75–₹1.00, mid example ₹0.86; utility about ₹0.10–₹0.15; email 5 paise). GST extra. Verify Meta’s live card before you budget. WatsBerry WhatsApp marketing markup in this example is ₹0.00.

    Example Meta marketing (mid ₹0.86)
    ₹860.00

Range ₹750.00 to ₹1,000.00 for 1,000 marketing templates.

    Example Meta utility (₹0.10–₹0.15)
    ₹0.00 to ₹0.00

0 utility templates. Inside-window rules still follow Meta.

    WatsBerry WhatsApp marketing markup
    ₹0.00 (0%)

You still pay Meta the example amounts above. WatsBerry does not add a marketing markup.

    Example email at 5 paise
    ₹0.00

0 emails from the WatsBerry wallet on India Pro/Growth. Not a WhatsApp markup.

Platform plans are a separate bill: Starter ₹1,599, Pro ₹2,999, Growth ₹5,999 /mo ex-GST after the 14-day free plan. See pricing. Competitor markups of up to ~35% are described as market practice on this site, not a live competitor rate card. Verify their prices on their sites.

Model WhatsApp API pricing in India with 0% markup on marketing messages

    1. 1

Put Meta usage on the WABA payment method

Marketing, utility, and authentication templates (and current service rules) invoice on Meta’s card for the recipient country. WatsBerry does not settle that invoice.

    2. 2

Put the software plan on WatsBerry

14-day free plan after invite, then Starter ₹1,599, Pro ₹2,999, or Growth ₹5,999 per month ex-GST on public India cards.

    3. 3

Treat WhatsApp marketing markup as 0%

WatsBerry does not add a percentage on top of Meta’s WhatsApp marketing rates. You pay Meta’s official rates. Competitor markups of up to ~35% are market practice on this site, not a live competitor rate card. Verify their sites.

    4. 4

Add email only if you send it

India Pro and Growth include built-in email at 5 paise per email from wallet. That is not a WhatsApp marketing markup.

    5. 5

Run example volumes, then verify Meta

Use the labeled 1,000 and 10,000 marketing examples on this page as worksheets. Open developers.facebook.com/docs/whatsapp/pricing before you lock a budget. Then join the waitlist.

    The short answer

WhatsApp Business API pricing in India is two bills, not one.

Meta charges per delivered template (and related conversation rules) on your WhatsApp Business Account. Rates depend on the template category, marketing, utility, authentication, and on the recipient’s country, not yours. WatsBerry charges a software plan. WhatsApp marketing has 0% WatsBerry markup. You pay Meta’s official rates. Email is built in at 5 Paise per email from wallet. We do not settle Meta’s invoice.

The figures below are planning ranges, not an official Meta rate card. Always verify the live India amounts on Meta’s WhatsApp pricing documentation and the snapshot on our pricing page before you commit a budget.

0% markup: Meta vs the WatsBerry plan

Indian finance teams get surprised when they only compared “₹X per message” tools. On official Cloud API, WhatsApp marketing has 0% markup: you pay Meta directly, and WatsBerry bills the software plan only:

    1. Meta WhatsApp usage, billed by Meta to the payment method on the WABA / Meta Business portfolio. WatsBerry adds 0% markup on WhatsApp marketing.
    2. WatsBerry platform plan. Starter, Pro, or Growth on watsberry.com/pricing (GST extra), after the 14-day free plan. Abandoned-cart recovery, Shopify, and email sit on Pro and Growth.

Wallet is not a WhatsApp marketing markup. Wallet funds email at 5 Paise per email (and similar non-WhatsApp usage). Competitors often add markups of up to ~35% on top of Meta. That is market practice, not a live competitor rate card.

Campaign analytics can show Meta cost so ROAS stays honest. For the product view of the same model, see how WatsBerry billing works with Meta.

Meta marketing, utility, and authentication rates (India ranges)

Meta publishes country rate cards and updates them. India is typically billed in INR for sold-to India accounts. Do not treat any BSP blog (including this page) as the source of truth.

Category India 2026 planning band (ex-GST) Typical use
Marketing about ₹0.75–₹1.00 per delivered template Offers, broadcasts, many cart-recovery nudges
Utility about ₹0.10–₹0.15 per delivered template Order, shipping, and transactional updates that match Meta’s utility rules
Authentication similar to utility for domestic OTPs Login codes; authentication-international is a separate, higher band
Service ₹0.1150 after 1,000 free / phone / month (from 1 Oct 2026) Free-form inbox replies; see Oct 2026 pricing change

Public 2026 snapshots have clustered marketing near the high-80-paise mark and utility/auth near 11.5 paise. Those snapshots drift. Volume-tier discounts on utility/authentication exist for very high monthly volume; most D2C brands stay on the list rate. From 1 October 2026, in-window utility templates are also charged. Details are on the October 2026 hub. Optimized delivery and a spend cap are a different product: WhatsApp Marketing Messages API and max price.

Disclaimer: These are ranges compiled from public India rate-card snapshots. They are not Meta’s live official numbers and not a WatsBerry quote. Open Meta’s current India rate card before you send.

GST and what “per message” actually means

Meta generally bills delivered template messages in the matching category. Failed or undelivered sends are not a safe way to “save” money, quality rating and throughput matter more.

In India, 18% GST typically applies on each biller’s invoice. A marketing template that looks like ₹0.85 on the card is closer to ₹1.00 all-in after GST. Budget the rate plus GST, then add the WatsBerry plan.

Recipients outside India use that country’s WhatsApp rate, not the India row. A UAE or US number on your list is not an India-paise send.

Example maths: 1,000 and 10,000 marketing messages

Illustrative only. Assume India marketing templates land in an ₹0.80–₹0.90 band per delivery, excluding GST, and that every message is delivered. This is a worksheet, not Meta’s card.

Volume Meta usage (ex-GST band) Meta + 18% GST (approx.)
    1,000 marketing templates ₹800–₹900 about ₹944–₹1,062
    10,000 marketing templates ₹8,000–₹9,000 about ₹9,440–₹10,620

    Then add WatsBerry:

    • Platform plan, public monthly cards (ex-GST) are Starter ₹1,599, Pro ₹2,999, Growth ₹5,999. Shopify abandoned-cart recovery is on Pro and Growth. See pricing.
    • WhatsApp marketing markup, 0%. You pay Meta’s rates. Do not add a WatsBerry percentage on top of the Meta line for marketing broadcasts.
    • Email, 5 Paise per email from wallet on Pro and Growth if you send email. Not a WhatsApp markup.

Worked example (1,000 marketing sends, Pro plan, one month): Meta ~₹800–₹900 + GST + Pro ₹2,999 + GST. No WatsBerry markup on those 1,000 WhatsApp marketing sends. The Meta line is what unofficial “unlimited blast” tools usually hide until the number is banned.

Worked example (10,000 marketing sends): Meta ~₹8,000–₹9,000 + GST. At this volume, category mix matters: shifting genuine order updates into approved utility templates (when they qualify) is cheaper than blasting every reminder as marketing. Mis-categorising marketing as utility is a policy risk, not a saving.

Labeled examples, not promises (1,000 and 10,000)

These rows use the same planning bands already on this site (ex-GST, not a locked quote). They were previously on the 0% markup URL, which now redirects here.

    • Marketing: about ₹0.75–₹1.00 per delivered template; mid snapshot ₹0.86 (public January 2026 pages sometimes quoted ₹0.8631; those pages drift)
    • Utility: about ₹0.10–₹0.15
    • Email: ₹0.05 (5 paise)
    • GST extra on each biller
    • Recipients outside India use that country’s Meta row

Example A: 1,000 marketing templates (India)

    Line Example maths Notes
    Meta marketing (mid ₹0.86) 1,000 × ₹0.86 = ₹860 Example only
Meta marketing range ₹750 to ₹1,000 ₹0.75–₹1.00 band
WatsBerry WhatsApp marketing markup ₹0 0%
WatsBerry plan (example Pro) ₹2,999 /mo ex-GST Separate bill; 14-day free plan first

Example B: 10,000 marketing templates (India)

    Line Example maths Notes
    Meta marketing (mid ₹0.86) 10,000 × ₹0.86 = ₹8,600 Example only
Meta marketing range ₹7,500 to ₹10,000 Not a promise
WatsBerry WhatsApp marketing markup ₹0 0%
    Email example: 10,000 emails 10,000 × ₹0.05 = ₹500 India Pro/Growth wallet

Do not copy these rupee totals into a board deck as “the official Meta rate.” Open Meta’s WhatsApp pricing the morning you send. The on-page calculator uses the same labeled example rates. Product plans: pricing. Company: about WatsBerry.

How to keep WhatsApp costs predictable

    • Match template category to the job. Promotions and win-backs are marketing. Post-purchase status is usually utility if Meta approves it that way.
    • Protect quality rating. Complaints, blocks, and sloppy opt-outs raise friction and can throttle throughput.
    • Prefer official Cloud API over grey bulk tools. A cheap per-message pitch is irrelevant if the WABA is restricted. Read official vs unofficial bulk WhatsApp tools.
    • For Shopify, recover carts with a short sequence instead of daily marketing blasts. Playbook: Shopify abandoned cart recovery on WhatsApp.
    • Fund the Meta payment method so WhatsApp campaigns do not stall. Fund the WatsBerry wallet if you send email (5 Paise per email), wallet is not a WhatsApp marketing markup.

What you get on WatsBerry besides the rate card

The plan is not “messages.” It is the commerce workspace: campaigns, shared inbox, templates, catalogue, CTWA, abandoned-cart recovery and order alerts, WhatsApp catalogue commerce, Razorpay / PayU payment links, and appointment forms that can write to Google Calendar.

What is a typical India marketing-template rate in 2026?

Are utility and authentication cheaper than marketing?

Yes on Meta’s India card. Utility and domestic authentication typically sit far below marketing, often around ₹0.10–₹0.15 per delivered template in public 2026 snapshots, while authentication-international is a separate, higher band. Confirm on Meta’s current rate card.
