Green Tick on WhatsApp Business India: Requirements & Timeline

Indian teams search green tick WhatsApp Business India for the checkmark next to the business name in chat. Meta’s product name is Official Business Account (OBA). In WatsBerry we also say Blue Tick — same badge, not a second product.

Requirement	Why it matters
Legal business name on the Meta Business portfolio	Must match GST / CIN / incorporation (or consistent PAN + address for sole props). Trade-name-only PDFs get bounced.
Registered address	Mismatches vs GST or MCA records are a common India rejection.
GSTIN / CIN / incorporation papers (as they apply)	Helps private limited / LLP verification. Sole props still need consistent identity, address, and a real website.
Live website showing the same brand	Parked domains, Instagram-only pages, or a different legal name on the homepage hurt verification and display-name review.
WhatsApp display name	Should match the legal or well-known brand — not “OFFERS HYDERABAD” or emoji spam.
Admin access to the Business portfolio	The Facebook user who applies must admin the portfolio attached to the WABA.
Official WABA	The tick sits on a Cloud API number. Unofficial multi-device setups are the wrong stack.

A Facebook Page helps later for Click-to-WhatsApp ads. It is not a substitute for business verification.

Nobody can honestly sell “green tick in 24 hours.” Reasonable planning when scans are clean:

If Meta asks for a clearer GST scan or a matching homepage, add that time. One to four weeks is a realistic window for the full badge path — a planning range, not a promise and not a WatsBerry SLA.

Keep quality rating healthy while you wait. Blocks and spam reports stall a number faster than a missing tick. You can still send approved templates on Cloud API after the number is connected (marketing may wait on verification). Dual billing: Meta usage + the WatsBerry plan.

“The green tick is the API.”
False. API = WABA on Cloud API. Tick = OBA. Connect first, badge later.

“I cannot send until I have the tick.”
False. Approved templates work on a connected number. The checkmark is trust, not the send pipe.

“An agency can guarantee the tick for a fee.”
False. Meta reviews each business. Paying a vendor does not purchase OBA. If they ask for WhatsApp Web / QR, walk away.

“Unofficial blast tools can get a real green tick.”
They cannot put you on Official Business Account the way Cloud API + Business Verification does. They put the phone number at ban risk. Read official vs unofficial tools.

“Green tick and blue tick are two different Meta products.”
In India the search term is green tick; Meta and many BSPs say blue tick. On WhatsApp Business Platform both refer to the verified Official Business Account checkmark — not a second badge you buy.

“More broadcasts make the tick arrive faster.”
Volume does not buy OBA. Sloppy opt-outs and blocks hurt quality. Send like a brand, not a rented SIM.

“I should open a second WABA if verification fails.”
Usually worse. Fix the same portfolio’s documents. A second number does not repair a GST mismatch.

When Meta or our team asks for more info, resubmit corrected files on the same application. Product statuses you may see: draft, submitted, in review with Meta, needs info, verified, rejected.

After you are invited and the number is connected:

1. Open the Blue Tick / business verification panel on the WhatsApp channel.
2. Confirm legal name, address, website, and contacts.
3. Choose whether to request Official Business Account as well as verification.
4. Submit. WatsBerry files with Meta and shows status — including notes if more documents are needed.

Is the green tick the same as WhatsApp Business API?

No. The API is a WhatsApp Business Account on Cloud API (Embedded Signup). The green tick is Official Business Account — a later trust badge. You can send approved templates without the checkmark.

How long does the green tick take in India?

Meta Business Verification is often a few business days to about a week when documents match (product copy uses a 2–5 business-day planning band). Official Business Account review can take longer and is not guaranteed. Treat one to four weeks as a planning window, not a promise.

Can WatsBerry issue the green tick?
